After the billboard advertising her Coachella 2025 performance was vandalised, Clairo has responded, saying the graffiti was “very cool”.
Ahead of Coachella’s first weekend kicking off, billboards promoting the artists playing at the festival began to pop up along the highway from Los Angeles to Indio, as is tradition.
On Friday (April 11), activist art collective Indecline posted a photo of a billboard that they had revised overnight. Advertising a Saturday set from Clairo at the Outdoor Theatre, initially, it read: “I got charmed at Coachella,” a reference to the ‘Juna‘ singer’s last album, ‘Charm‘.
Last night, Indecline swapped “charmed” for “fucked” on the billboard, with a subsequent Instagram caption seemingly denouncing the consumerism associated with the festival, reading: “Late Stage Capitalism headlining the Main Stage of America.”
Clairo has since responded, first commenting: “Unfortunately for me, this is very cool. Lol” underneath the post, and later sharing the pictures to X/Twitter, where she joked: “If you’re lucky.”

Elsewhere, electronic duo Snow Strippers also had their billboard vandalised to read the word “GRIM” in huge letters, with Stereogum reporting that it was later covered with a new artwork promoting the artists.
Back in 2022, Norwegian DJ Matoma bought a number of billboards on the road into Coachella to raise awareness and funds for the Ukraine relief effort. Put up in collaboration with the Music Saves UA charity, they read: “DROP BEATS NOT BOMBS” and featured the blue and yellow of the Ukraine flag.
As for this year’s edition of the Californian festival, things are well underway, with Friday’s headliner Lady Gaga wrapping up her headline set in the early hours this morning (April 12).
Despite being hailed by fans as the “best Coachella show of all time”, many were beset by travel issues before getting through the gates, with some reporting “horrendous” 12-hour waits in a traffic jam.
The first wave of artists confirmed for this year’s edition was shared back in November, when it was revealed that Gaga, Green Day, Post Malone and Travis Scott would be headlining. Other artists on the bill include Missy Elliott, Charli XCX, Megan Thee Stallion, solo performances from BLACKPINK‘s Lisa and Jennie, Benson Boone, the original Misfits, Zedd, The Prodigy, Beabadoobee, Clairo, Enhypen and more.
