Watch The Go-Go’s bring out Billie Joe Armstrong and cover “HOT TO GO!” at Coachella
The Go-Go’s put on one of the best sets I saw all day, with or without Billie Joe Armstrong.

It was day one of Coachella 2025 under the hot 100-degree sun that we got one of the first major surprises of the weekend. Green Day are set to headline day two (Saturday, April 12) of the festival, but first Billie Joe Armstrong took the stage with a smaller-font that paved the way for his own, The Go-Go’s. He sang guest lead vocals on their 1984 hit “Head Over Heels” and he was clearly very happy to be up there with them. It was a hell of a treat and they sounded great—watch video below.
As exciting a moment as it was, The Go-Go’s put on one of the best sets I saw all day, with or without Billie Joe Armstrong. The punk/power pop/new wave vets told the crowd they’d mostly be performing material from their 1981 debut album Beauty and the Beat—an album that they noted was released before most of the crowd was born—and they were in amazing form. They looked and sounded sharp, and the songs hit as hard as ever. The harmonies were soaring, the guitars were ripping, and the rhythm section was pounding. They also tipped their hat towards another newer torch-carrier by covering part of Chappell Roan’s “HOT TO GO!” during set closer “We Got the Beat.” Watch video of that as well and check out their full setlist below.
