All Nippon Airways is furthering its commitment to elevating CX, with RECARO’s new R3 Economy Class and R4 Premium Class seats designed specifically for its next-gen cabins on international routes.

All Nippon Airways (ANA) and RECARO Aircraft Seating have unveiled their latest passenger comfort innovations. The new R3 Economy Class and R4 Premium Class seats are designed specifically for the next-generation cabins of ANA on international routes.

The R4 Premium Class seats feature an increased seat pitch of approximately 40 inches and an enhanced recline of about two inches, providing greater relaxation and reduced fatigue on long-haul flights. Meanwhile, the R3 Economy Class seats offer increased living space and a generous seat pitch of around 33 to 34 inches, making them some of the most spacious Economy Class seats available and ensuring a more comfortable journey for passengers. In addition to premium comfort, the lightweight design of the seats helps decrease the aircraft’s total weight, resulting in reduced CO₂ emissions and improved fuel efficiency. Furthermore, both the R3 and R4 seats are equipped with innovative features such as USB-C charging ports and, for the first time, Bluetooth connectivity. This allows passengers to seamlessly use their own Bluetooth headphones and devices, significantly enhancing the inflight entertainment experience and catering to the modern traveller’s needs for connectivity and personalised comfort.

“ANA is committed to continually elevating the passenger experience and the new seats represent our ongoing investment in providing customers with greater comfort and convenience on our international flights,” says Tomoji Ishii, Executive Vice President, Customer Experience Management and Planning, ANA. “We will continue to seek out and implement innovative solutions to enhance every aspect of the passenger journey with ANA.”

ANA will introduce the R3 and R4 seats on its next-generation Boeing 787-9 long-haul international aircraft, with deployment scheduled to begin in fiscal year 2026.

“We are honoured to partner with All Nippon Airways and introduce our R3 and R4 seating solutions,” says Dr Mark Hiller, CEO of RECARO Aircraft Seating and RECARO Holding. “These seats exemplify the drive and dedication of RECARO for innovation, by offering enhanced ergonomics, increased living space and innovative connectivity features.

Irene Tan, General Manager of RECARO Asia Pacific, adds: “The new seats truly represent the strength and success of our ongoing partnership with ANA. We are looking forward to continuing our collaboration in the future.”
