Hahn Airport is expecting an increased volume of travelers during the Easter vacations in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. “We assume that we will count around 85,000 passengers during this period,” says Rüdiger Franke, Managing Director of TRIWO Hahn Airport. The Easter vacations in the German federal state Rhineland-Palatinate and neighboring federal state Saarland start on April 14. In Hesse, also an important catchment area for Hahn Airport, they already began on April 7.
“Vacation periods are among the peak times for an airport,” continued Managing Director Franke. “We are well prepared for the travel wave during the Easter vacations.”
The Airport offers 46 attractive warm-water and vacation destinations in its current summer flight schedule. New destinations include Bucharest, Rijeka in Croatia, Reggio Calabria in Italy, Sibiu in Romania and Tenerife. Travelers can also take off from Hahn to popular vacation destinations such as Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, Ibiza or Rome-Fiumicino.
For a relaxed start to the vacation, the airlines at Hahn recommend that all passengers arrive at the airport between two to three hours before the scheduled departure time. This ensures that there is enough time for check-in (if this has not already been done online) as well as for baggage drop-off and security checks. Travelers are also asked to check the validity of their ID documents in advance and to have them within reach while being at the airport.
In order to reduce waiting times at the security checkpoint, it is important to pack liquids and creams up to a maximum of 100 milliliters per container in a transparent 1-liter bag. The bag and technical devices must then be placed separately on the security checkpoint conveyor belt.
From an American military airfield to an international commercial airport with 24-hour operations: since its civilian opening in 1993, Hahn Airport has developed into an important aviation location for passengers and freight. In 2024, TRIWO Hahn Airport counted 1.9 million passengers – an increase of around 12 percent compared to 2023. TRIWO AG has been the owner of the airport company TRIWO Hahn Airport GmbH since May 2023.
