Touch the Clouds is the current band featuring three members of Michigan emo vets Few and Far Between (with Nikkie Margosian-Galindo of Fred Thomas’ ’90s band Chore on bass), and they’re gearing up to release a new self-titled album next week, on March 14 via Elkion Records/The Orchard (pre-order). Speaking about how the members’ shared history plays into this new album, guitarist Darrin Hunt says, “Our whole scene, which was probably 50 to 100 friends, would gather and see bands play at various venues throughout the city. So when I think back to those things, that’s what motivates me.”

Ahead of the album’s release, we’re premiering new single “You Got No Soul,” a gritty, anthemic song that sounds straight out of the late ’90s/early 2000s emo/post-hardcore era, and as the song title implies, there’s some soul in there too. “I grew up listening to Motown and pop music,” singer/guitarist Joe Philips says. “And I started singing in a choir really early. So my sense of melody is kind of foundational.”

He continues, “‘You Got No Soul’ is a callout – to corporations, media, politicians – anyone selling lies while marching us faster toward profit-driven oblivion. Heavy, urgent and simmering with frustration. This song is about seeing through the deception, the social media manipulation, and refusing to play along. If you’ve ever felt like the world’s reading from the wrong script, this one’s for you.” Listen below.
