Since premiering in early January, new medical drama The Pitt has captivated viewers with its intense ER storylines. Below, we take a look at the songs that have helped establish the Max series’ chaotic vibe.

The Pitt follows Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch and his emergency room team at Pittsburgh’s Mercy Hospital as they navigate a hectic 15-hour shift in real time, tackling overdoses, heart attacks, and personal struggles amidst a strained healthcare system.

The show stars Noah Wyle (ER) as the weathered yet sharp Dr. Robby, with supporting cast members including Shanley Caswell as intern Chloe, Vinny DeGennaro as orderly Santos, and veterans like Debra Monk as nurse Nancy.

Created by John Wells and R. Scott Gemmill – both of ER fame – and directed by Wells for the pilot, the series has been largely praised by critics for its its relentless pacing and authenticity. It currently holds a score of 96 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes based on early reviews.

At the time of writing, 13 of the 15 episodes of the first season have aired. With two episodes still remaining, a full official soundtrack is currently unavailable. However, these are the songs that have featured in the series so far.

• ‘Baby‘ – Robert Bradley’s Blackwater Surprise
• ‘Funky Music Sho Nuff Turns Me On‘ – Edwin Starr
• ‘Savage‘ – Megan Thee Stallion

Beyond ‘Fail Forward,’ Brivik also composed the original score for all 15 episodes. Having previously worked on How to Blow Up a Pipeline, his music typically leans into tense, atmospheric soundscapes with the use of synths and subtle guitar.

When will the next episode of The Pitt air?

Episode 14 of The Pitt is set to air on Max on April 3, 2025. The 15th and final instalment of the first season will be released on April 10.

The Pitt airs on Max in the US and is available to stream through Sky Showcase and Sky/NOW in the UK.
