Actor John Goodman has reportedly sustained a hip injury during the production of Alejandro González Iñárritu’s newest film which also stars Tom Cruise and is set up at Warner Bros. Pictures.
The injury has led to a delay in filming in the U.K. on the untitled project which began filming in November and marks the “Birdman” director’s first English-language film since 2016’s “The Revenant”.
Iñárritu is producing and penned the script with Sabina Berman, Nicolas Giacobone and Alexander Dinelaris. Story specifics are under wraps but Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons and Sophie Wilde co-star.
In a statement, a Warner Bros. spokesperson says:
“Actor John Goodman experienced a hip injury. He received immediate medical attention that led to a brief delay in shooting to allow him time to recover. The production resumes shooting next week following John’s full recovery.”
This is Cruise’s first project since closing a deal to develop and produce theatrical films for Warners back in January 2024. His last collaboration with Warners was 2014’s “Edge of Tomorrow”.
The film is currently set for an October 2nd 2026 release. Goodman will shortly be seen in final seasons of both “The Conners” and “The Righteous Gemstones” with both those runs kicking off in the next month or so.
