School statement
"As an institute of excellence in post-graduate architectural education, YACademy firmly believes that construction is crucial for a designer. For this reason, besides placement opportunities in the most renowned studios in the world, YACademy's format also includes training programs aimed at realising design projects.
"Such was the case with The Making of a Factory, an initiative born from the collaboration with Cesare Roversi Arredamenti, a leading company in interior design.
"With this project, students of YACademy's courses in Architecture for Landscape and Architecture for Heritage worked together with some top players in contemporary architecture such as SANAA and Mario Cucinella Architects, to imagine a new dimension for the Cesare Roversi Arredamenti headquarters in Moglia, Italy.
"The project consisted of various workshops, which brought two proposals to be turned into reality. The partnership between YACademy and Cesare Roversi Arredamenti thus aims to let students measure themselves with the composition and realisation of dynamics and the complexities of the architectural profession. This creates a significant opportunity for young talented architects to see their ideas materialise."
Serpentine Promenade by Matteo Marchese, Federico Antonelli and Dinu Hoinarescu
"At the heart of our approach was the respect for the existing structure and nature, hence the challenge to find a way to make old and new coexist and enhance each other.
"Starting with an accurate analysis of the existing environment, the project aimed to reproduce the same play of shadows and volumes characterising the original framework.
"The walkway winds gently through the trees, amidst century-old vegetation and ivy climbing over the buildings and covering them as a second skin.
"The canopy filters light just like the natural elements of the place do, and the walkway is realised with wood, the main material used in the company's production.
"Thus, the Serpentine Promenade emerges as a natural part of the landscape, emphasising the overall harmony."

A Room in the Garden by Federica De Marchi and Cláudia Aires de Sá Miranda
"We designed a vertical connection for the external guesthouse within the company headquarters, trying to integrate our creativity with the studio's philosophy.
"We had to explore not only the concept of the staircase but also reinterpret the notion of the garden.
"With the purpose to impart a new identity to the company, the design proposal focuses on creating a staircase that, surpassing its primary function, takes the form of a stage for the entire garden.
"The structure, constructed using corten steel tubular elements, incorporates circular features that repeat within the green environment, introducing new functionalities for a more fulfilling experience of the space."
