18 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

MAN/WOMAN/CHAINSAW – “MADDOG”

London’s Man/Woman/Chainsaw will release a new 7″ single on May 25 via So Young Records and have just shared the b-side. “Maddog” is a soulful rock song that goes in surprising directions. “Mad Dog talks about losing a friend and watching them become everything you thought they wouldn’t,” says singer Vera Leppänen. “We wrote the song as two parts, the pissed off bit and the sad/nostalgic bit, and recorded it with a quick turnaround which was fairly new to us.”

LEIKELI47 – “SOFT SERVE”

Brooklyn rapper Leikeli47 announced last year that she’d be taking off the mask for her new album, Lei Keli ft. 47 / For Promotional Use Only, and now it finally has a release date: June 13 via Acrylic/Hardcover/Thirty Tigers. Here’s the alluring new single “Soft Serve.”

MAIYA BLANEY – “RECOGNIZE ME”

NYC singer-songwriter and producer Maiya Blaney has announced a new album, A Room With A Door That Closes, due out June 13 via Lex Records. She’s also shared a new preview, the rousing, cathartic “Recognize Me,” which she calls “the bedroom hairbrush anthem my 16-year-old self needed more than anything. I felt it in the moment the song came out of me, cause that’s who it felt like was talking. Was very reactive in that moment and pubescent, and allowing myself to be. Allowing myself to expel myself not just from my situation, but from myself, in order to make room for the new.”

PARCELS – “YOUGOTMEFEELING”

Australia neo-funk groovers Parcels will release new album Loved on September 12 via Because Music. The first single is the breezy “Yougotmefeeling.”

MOUNT KIMBIE – “EMPTY AND SILENT”

UK group Mount Kimbie will release The Sunset Violent (Live in Heidelberg) on June 20 via Warp, which documents their set at METROPOLINK in July 2024. Here’s that show’s performance of “Empty And Silent.”

HARMS WAY – “OTHER WORLD” & “V.B.Y.S.S.”

Chicago metallic hardcore crushers Harms Way are back with a ferocious new song, “Other World,” and it comes backed by “V.B.Y.S.S.,” a reworking of “Wanderer” co-produced by King Yosef.

SOCCER MOMMY – “SHE IS (STRIPPED)”

Soccer Mommy announced a new EP, Evergreen (stripped), which follows last year’s Evergreen and features acoustic versions of its songs. It also features a new song, “She Is (stripped),” and she says, “this song didn’t make the cut for Evergreen but it was always really special to me. I think the stripped version does it justice while staying close to the demo.”

FLORRY – “PRETTY EYES LORRAINE”

Northeast indie-country band Florry’s new album Sounds Like… is just a few weeks away, and here’s another promising taste of it.

BC CAMPLIGHT – “WHERE YOU TAKING MY BABY?

BC Camplight has announced new album A Sober Conversation which will be out June 27 via Bella Union. The song deals with heavy subject matter, when he was abused as a child by an adult camp counselor, but lets in a little light via the widescreen production. “I had spent 30 years being terrified to open that door, and afraid of the price I’d pay once I had, BC says. “I’ve opened the door. To some extent this album is what was on the other side. I hope it helps me but this album is also for everyone that is having trouble finding their bravery, finding themselves.”

ANAMANAGUCHI – “DARCIE”

Chiptune vets Anamanaguchi have announced their first rock album, Anyway, due August 8 via Polyinvyl. It was recorded at the American Football house (which is also pictured on the album cover) and produced by frequent Flaming Lips collaborator Dave Fridmann, and lead single “Darcie” has some pretty big ’90s Weezer/Rentals vibes. Anamanaguchi also play a surprise, free show at NYC’s Night Club 101 tonight (5/6).

JEREMIAH CHIU & MARTA SOFIA HONER – “MEAN SOLAR TIME”

Jeremiah Chiu & Marta Sofia Honer will release Different Rooms on June 20 via International Anthem, and here’s the new-agey, orchestral opening track “Mean Solar Time.”

Read more about lead single “Mental Mentality” here.

JOHN C REILLY MISTER ROMANTIC – “WHAT’LL I DO?”

His another song from the debut album by John C Reilly’s vaudevillian alter ego, Mister Romantic.

U.S. GIRLS – “BOOKENDS”

The first single from U.S. Girls’ new album Scratch It is a 12-minute tribute to late Power Trip vocalist Riley Gale.

CORY HANSON (WAND) – “BIRD ON A SWING”

Here’s the soulful, slightly twangy first taste of Wand frontman Cory Hanson’s new solo album.

BAXTER DURY – “ALLBARONE”

Baxter Dury’s eighth album was produced by mega-producer Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence) and this is the electro-powered first single.

GUERILLA TOSS – “PSYCHOSIS IS JUST A NUMBER” (PROD STEPHEN MALKMUS)

NYC band Guerilla Toss don’t sound anything like Pavement but maybe that’s why this song, which was produced by Stephen Malkmus, works so well.
