GTA 6 Trailer 2 Breakdown: What's Happening In Leonida?

Leonida awaits...

Rockstar Games released a new trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI out of nowhere, and the gaming world has been buzzing ever since. The three-minute video offers a new look at heroes Jason and Lucia, while also showing a few of the other faces that will be central to the story of this new era of Vice City and the rest of Leonida.

This gallery will break down everything shown in the new GTA 6 trailer, as well as a few potential clues as to what we may be getting up to in Leonida during the game. The wait for May 26, 2026 is going to be long, but we have gathered over 170 screenshots alongside this new trailer to keep you busy.

Waterfront property

The trailer opens on an overhead shot of a small bayside town, with boats zooming around in the water and seagulls flying through the air. The scene shifts to a green house with a man working on the roof.

Jason and Brian

The man on the roof is Jason Duval, one of the two lead protagonists we'll be playing throughout the game. His work is interrupted by Brian Heder, who asks Jason to "get [him his] checks!" Jason is incredulous, but he hops into his car and leaves.

Going for a ride

Next, Jason is seen driving as a neighbor calls to him, then the scene dramatically changes to Jason smacking a store clerk around and taking money from the cash register. It seems "getting checks" is code for "shaking down store owners" in Brian's case.

Scenes from Vice City

As Jason continues his drive, we see road signs for multiple locations--Ambrosia, Downtown, VCI Airport, and Southside among them--before the scene cuts to Jason lifting weights on a beach--weightlifting played a role in GTA: San Andreas, so perhaps that RPG-like system will return here.

We go back to Jason as he leaves a bodega with a six-pack of beer, with a homeless man sitting on the ground outside. He gets back in his car, passes police arresting some men below a mural reading "Liberte - Egalite - Fraternite"--perhaps a veiled commentary--before Jason arrives at his destination: Leonida Penitentiary, where he asks for Lucia Caminos. Lucia emerges, and after a brief greeting, we see "Rockstar Games Presents" flash onto the screen.

A new Bonnie and Clyde

After a brief glimpse of Lucia and Jason getting reacquainted with one another, the scene shifts to Lucia wearing a skull mask and glasses and wielding a SMG. The screens behind the poor teller she's holding up reads "Sinfrontera National Bank." Jason is then shown moving one of the tellers away, wearing the same type of skull mask. Heists were a major part of the GTA V and GTA Online experience; perhaps missions like that will carry over to Vice City.

Work hard, play hard

More scenes of Lucia and Jason's relationship come next, with intimate moments mixed with the two sharing a drink and sitting on a pier while telling stories and laughing.

Two more short scenes--one of what looks like Jason helping some men load suitcases onto a small plane, the other of a woman resembling Lucia performing community service--then flash on-screen, before we see the two talking about "a new start."

Couple about town

Lucia and Jason's relationship takes them all over Leonida, first to a local bar where a new face--Cal Tompkins--orders a round of shots, then to a yacht where Lucia shows off a new golden dress.

In the bar where Cal orders the shots, the bartender rings a bell in front of the words "Hurricane Roxy." Considering a future character is named Roxy, perhaps Rockstar is telling us to be wary of them--or they might cause a big storm.

Leonida 5-0

The next few scenes all involve law enforcement--either references to them or direct contact with them. We see another as-yet-unnamed character ask if someone is "a fed," then Jason and Lucia are seen jumping out of a window as a police helicopter hovers above. A squad of cops are shown infiltrating a building, with one of them wearing a captain's badge and saying "us cops, we gotta protect each other."

Life in Leonida

From there, the trailer shows more of what the duo will be getting into during the game. We see Jason shooting a gun out of a car as it drives by, Lucia cage-fighting, a truck pulling what looks like a safe through the streets, and a massive explosion involving multiple police cars and a grenade launcher. There's also a bit more partying as well, with selfies in the club and dancers in a different type of club.

We then see a commercial for Phil's Ammu-nation--"We got more guns than the law allows," Phil yells excitedly. This may or may not be Phil Murphy from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, but we won't know until Rockstar confirms it.

How to get around

The next montage focuses on the different types of vehicles that will be available in the game. We see speedboats, helicopters, motorcycles, jetskis, small planes, dirt bikes, and sports cars. We also see Jason riding a motorcycle up to the back of a semi truck and jumping inside to steal a sports car.

Off into the sunset

The final shot of the trailer is Jason and Lucia driving over a bridge as the sun sets on both Leonida and the video as a whole. The screen fades to black as the Grand Theft Auto VI logo appears on screen, followed by the May 26, 2026 release date and logos for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The end card also mentioned that the footage from the trailer was captured on a PS5, and we even see a console and controllers resembling the PS5 and its DualSense controllers.
