The next few months are looking set to be an incredibly intense production period as multiple films due out Summer 2026 get underway on filming.
First up, Deadline made the very surprising claim that Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Messiah” is shooting sooner than expected – a lot sooner.
The outlet is claiming the movie won’t go into production early 2026 as originally indicated, rather it will film as early as this June.
Then came a report from scooper Daniel Richtman, who says filming on “Avengers: Doomsday” has been pushed back a month and will now begin in April. The reason for the delay is that “the script still isn’t quite finished.”
If true, it raises some obvious scheduling questions – especially in relation to actors Zendaya and Tom Holland. Holland has leading roles in Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” and the fourth “Spider-Man” both shooting this year in that order.
It begs the question how Holland will have time to shoot “Avengers: Doomsday” scenes, with online rumors suggesting a Pedro Pascal in “The Mandalorian”-style solution – namely a stunt double will shoot the masked up scenes involving the character and Holland will simply provide his voice for those scenes at a later date. He would then only have to appear for a handful of scenes involving an unmasked Peter.
Even more packed is Zendaya’s schedule. She’s currently filming the third and final season of “Euphoria” and is expected to segue to roles in “The Odyssey,” “Spider-Man 4” and “Dune: Messiah”.
Her character is a core part of ‘Messiah,’ even more so than the original “Dune” films, and so will have a decent-sized filming commitment there. The extent of her roles in the Nolan and Marvel films is unknown but is expected to be limited.
Richtman also reports that both Dave Filoni’s “Star Wars” movie and the “New Jedi Order” film starring Daisy Ridley are targeting 2026 filming starts.
