Linda Cardellini May Play Pamela Voorhees?

Linda Cardellini is reportedly up for a major role in the “Friday the 13th” prequel series “Crystal Lake” which is still moving forward at A24 and Peacock.

The series originally set Bryan Fuller (“Hannibal”) as showrunner when it was announced in 2022, but Fuller left the project last year. Brad Caleb Kane, who is producing the upcoming “IT: Welcome to Derry” series for HBO, is serving as showrunner here.

The InSneider reports that Cardellini is being eyed to play Jason’s mother, Pamela Voorhees, in the series. A deal has not been officially completed at this time, but Sneider says the “No Good Deed” and Marvel actress would be “hard-pressed to turn this down.”

Plot specifics are under wraps beyond it being a prequel to involve Jason in his early days as the Camp Crystal Lake killer. It’s not clear what can be shown due to the legal issues surrounding the franchise. In a previous statement, Kane says:

“”Nothing defined my childhood more than growing up in the golden age of the slasher flick, and nothing’s defined the genre more than Friday The 13th. I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to contribute a chapter to this iconic franchise, particularly with such fearless partners as Peacock and A24.”

Victor Miller, Marc Toberoff; Robert M. Barsamian and Robert P. Barsamian also executive produce the series. Kane has also served as a writer and/or producer on series like “Fringe,” “Black Sails,” “Warrior” and “Tokyo Vice”.
