Kevin Bacon revisited one of his greatest hits when he sang the theme tune to the film Footloose at a recent music festival.
The 1984 film was the actor’s breakthrough movie, in which he starred as a rebellious teen who moves to a small town and fights to overturn a law against dancing imposed by a local minister (John Lithgow). It became a cultural phenomenon and marked the beginning of Bacon’s prolific career in Hollywood. The film’s theme, ‘Footloose’ by Kenny Loggins, would also go on to be a global hit.
On April 27, at Stagecoach festival in California, the actor performed with his music duo The Bacon Brothers with sibling Michael. With Kevin performing lead vocals, the act delighted the crowd by performing the number. Footage of the moment was captured on social media.

While he has fond memories of the film, Bacon turned down a chance to appear in the 2011 remake of the same name.
Speaking in 2013, he gave his reasons, saying: “It was a lousy part. I was (lead character Ren) McCormack’s father, which I don’t mind, but he was just a miserable prick. I honestly think I would have done a disservice to the film… there was no point to me being in the movie…”.
Last year, the actor made an appearance at the prom of Payson High School, which provided the setting for the fictitious Bomont High in the movie. As well as celebrating the film’s 40th anniversary, Bacon’s appearance was to mark the last prom before the most moved, having been at their Utah location since 1967.
Recently, Bacon’s Footloose co-star John Lithgow talked about his surprise at the backlash he has received for being cast as Professor Dumbledore in the new Harry Potter series.
