“Dexter: Original Sin” Prequel Series Gets Season 2 Renewal

The highly popular prequel series “Dexter: Original Sin” was the most streamed original for Showtime in a decade, per The Wrap, so it’s no surprise that the show has been renewed for Season 2 at Paramount+ with Showtime.

“Dexter” showrunner Clyde Phillips will return for the series’ second season.

“Dexter: Original Sin” is set in 1991 Miami and revolves around Dexter (Patrick Gibson) as he goes from student to avenging serial killer. With guidance from his father, Harry (Christian Slater), the killer-in-training adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people without being discovered by law enforcement at the same time as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.

The rest of the Morgan family include Christian Slater as Harry Morgan, Patrick Gibson as Dexter Morgan and Molly Brown as Debra Morgan.

The series also stars Joe Pantoliano (BoundThe Matrix, “Chucky”) are Brittany Allen (What Keeps You Alive), Randy Gonzalez (Bloodline), Aaron Jennings (Pure Genius), Raquel Justice (One Day at a Time), Jasper Lewis (V/H/S), Carlo Mendez (The Bay), Isaac Gonzalez Rossi (That’s Amor) and Roberto Sanchez (Palm Royale). It also stars James Martinez as Angel Batista, alongside Christina Milian as Maria LaGuerta, Alex Shimizu as Vince Masuka and Reno Wilson as Bobby Watt. Patrick Dempsey (Thanksgiving) plays Aaron Spencer, Captain of the Miami Metro Homicide. Sarah Michelle Gellar plays CSI Chief Tanya Martin.

The first season is available to stream now and is getting a SteelBook Blu-ray release this summer. And there’s even more “Dexter” on the way, with showrunner Clyde Phillips currently working on “Dexter: Resurrection.”

Executive producers for “Dexter: Original Sin” include Phillips, Michael C. Hall, Scott Reynolds, Mary Leah Sutton, Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, Robert Lloyd Lewis, and Michael Lehmann.

Production dates have yet to be set for season two, but the writers room is opening soon. So expect to hear more about the new season soon.
