Longtime Chicago emo revival staples Dowsing and Florida power-popsters Camp Trash have teamed up for a one-sided split LP with three new songs from each band, including a Dowsing track that features Ratboys‘ Julia Steiner (“Get Grounded”). It comes out this Friday (4/4) via Evan Weiss’ Storm Chasers LTD label (and it’s also the March Storm Chasers LTD Patreon release), and a full stream premieres in this post.

Here’s what Dowsing’s Erik Hunter Czaja tells us about it:

This split has been in the making for over 2 years and it is finally here. These songs began in 2017 and didn’t make albums after. They are about desperate attempts to feel normal, self reflection, and strange spiritual philosophies my boss would spew at me. These are all common themes from the Sky Coffin [2019] sessions, which these recordings came from. We have been looking for a home for these songs for a long time and linking up with Camp Trash to do so made so much sense. Two bands where everyone lives in different parts of the country, tour when they can, write when they can, and short songs that encapsulate a whole big feel that makes you want more. All of that and releasing it on our own with the help of Storm Chasers LTD makes this a special release for us. We hope you enjoy the spirit of these 6 songs!

Camp Trash’s Keegan Bradford adds:

Normally, Camp Trash songs are written through a close collaboration between me (Keegan) and Bryan. We start with an acoustic demo and pass it back and forth many times, both of us adding and revising, until we feel like we have something we can take to the band to flesh it out into a full arrangement. This time, I wrote the songs instrumentally in full on my own, and then sent the them to Bryan to write vocals/lyrics over the finished tracks. We recorded most of the instruments to 2 inch tape, and I’m in love with the warm, saturated sound of these songs.

In closing, may we get a third season of Detroiters soon, amen.
