Casting News: Hart, Rossum, Hoult, Cuoco, Lizzo

72 Hours
Kevin Hart is set to star in the Tim Story-directed comedy “72 Hours” at Netflix. Matt Mider & Kevin Burrows, Jon Hurwitz & Hayden Schlossberg penned the script.

The story follows a 40-year-old executive who hopes to save his flailing career by joining a group of twentysomethings on a wild three-day bachelor party, after he’s inadvertently added to their group text. [Source: Deadline]

Black Widow
Emmy Rossum is in talks to join “The Dropout” creator Liz Meriwether’s TV series reimagining of the 1987 neo-noir thriller “Black Widow” at Hulu and Searchlight TV. Amanda Seyfried was previously reported as also starring.

Debra Winger starred in the original film as a Justice Department investigator tracking a gold-digging, serial killing woman (Theresa Russell) who moves from husband to husband in order to kill them and collect the inheritance. Rossum would take the Winger role. [Source: THR]

Untitled David Leitch Project
Nicholas Hoult is set to star in “Bullet Train” and “The Fall Guy” director David Leitch’s next and currently untitled high-profile action thriller which has been set up at Amazon MGM Studios, Imagine Entertainment and 87North. The project will shoot later this summer.

Mark Bianculli penned the heist film with story details under wraps, but the aim is to get the film in cinemas and is said to be on a similar scale to Leitch’s last two films. Leitch, Kelly McCormick, Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, and Allan Mandelbaum produce. [Source: Deadline]

Vanished
Kaley Cuoco, Sam Claflin, Karin Viard and Matthias Schweighöfer will star in the mystery thriller series “Vanished” which Barnaby Thompson directs. David Hilton and Preston Thompson created and writes the series which begins filming late April in Paris and Marseilles.

During a romantic getaway to Paris, Alice (Cuoco) finds her boyfriend Tom (Claflin) has suddenly disappeared aboard a train to the south of France. She is plunged into a web of intrigue and danger, uncovering shocking secrets about the man she thought she knew. [Source: Variety]

Rosetta
Lizzo will play famed musician Sister Rosetta Tharpe in the upcoming biopic “Rosetta” at Amazon MGM Studios. Natalie Chaidez and Kwynn Perry pen the film.

The project will tell Tharpe’s true story and how she became known as the godmother of Rock & Roll. Lizzo will also produce alongside Kevin Beisler, Nina Yang Bongiovi and Forest Whitaker. [Source: Variety]
