Balmora surprise-release new EP ‘Prologue,’ confirm debut album

Connecticut’s Balmora have been on the rise thanks to their appealing mix of metalcore, deathcore, and melodic death metal, and today they surprise-released a new EP, Prologue. It’s their third EP in as many years, following 2023’s With Thorns of Glass and Petals of Grief and their 2024 split with Since My Beloved, Six Pacts Etched in Blood. The new EP has just three songs and it finds them sounding as crisp, heavy, and melodic as ever. Here’s what the band says about it:

There is something for everyone in the new Balmora material but at the end of the day, if you ever wanted to hear what The Black Dahlia Murder sounded like if they had Irate mosh parts, this will be for you.

The EP is out today via DAZE/Ephyra, and a press release calls it “a look toward a full-length album set for later this year.” Stay tuned for more on that.

Tonight (4/1), Balmora begin their run on the DAZE tour with Torture, Sanction, Final Resting Place, and Azshara. The tour runs from April Fool’s Day in Philly through 4/20 in NJ. They also play the Norwalk, CT stop of the Pain of Truth/Sunami tour and Furnace Fest. All dates are listed below.
