Apple TV+’s ‘Cape Fear’ Series Adds Malia Pyles, Anna Baryshnikov, Jamie Hector, More

Malia Pyles (“Pretty Little Liars”), Anna Baryshnikov (Love Lies Bleeding), Jamie Hector (“The Wire”), Clara Wong (The Eyes of My Mother), Lily Collias (Good One), and Joe Anders (1917) have joined Apple TV+’s “Cape Fear” TV series, Deadline reports.

They round out the cast lead by Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men), Amy Adams (Arrival), Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring), and CCH Pounder (“The Shield”).

From executive producers Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, the 10-episode series is billed as a tense, Hitchcockian thriller and an examination of America’s obsession with true crime in the 21st century.

In it, a storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna (Adams) and Tom Bowden (Wilson) when Max Cady (Bardem), a notorious killer from their past, gets out of prison.

It’s based on both John D. MacDonald‘s 1957 novel The Executioners, which was adapted into 1962’s Cape Fear starring Gregory Peck, and Scorsese’s 1991 remake with Robert De Niro.

“Channel Zero” and “Brand New Cherry Flavor” creator Nick Antosca will serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game, Passengers) is directing the pilot and executive producing.

UCP, where Antosca and his Eat the Cat banner are under an overall deal, is producing alongside Amblin Television.
