Well that “Elden Ring” report that flared up yesterday morning and was shot down yesterday afternoon has flared up once again.
This time it’s The InSneider reporting that outlet Nexus Point News had it correct yesterday – that “Civil War” and “Ex Machina” writer/director Alex Garland is reportedly in talks to direct an “Elden Ring” film adaptation at A24.
NPN published their report yesterday but then took it down after a few hours without explanation. Then The Verge published a piece tearing into the original article over its source.
Now Sneider is indicating the original report is correct. If so, “Elden Ring” could well be the most expensive movie A24 has ever produced and joins another potentially costly game-to-film adaptation on the way in the form of “Death Stranding”.
At last report officially, both Sony execs and creative collaborator/author George R.R. Martin indicated there was interest in an “Elden Ring” screen project as recently as February, but no talent was attached at the time.
The game unfolds in a world called The Lands Between. Players take on the role of one of the Tarnished, individuals whose ancestors were exiled years ago. When the Elden Ring is shattered, they get the chance to return and conquer the land they were once banished from.
