William Tyler announces new album and live events (hear 3 songs)
‘Time Indefinite’ is William Tyler’s first album in six years and will be out April 25 via Psychic Hotline (the label founded by Sylvan Esso)

William Tyler has announced a new album, Time Indefinite, which will be out April 25 via Psychic Hotline, the label started by Amelia Meath & Nick Sanborn of Sylvan Esso. It’s his first in six years and was inspired in part by the films of documentarian Ross McElwee (whose 1993 film gave Tyler the album title).
The seeds of the album came from a vintage a tape machine Tyler found in his late grandfather’s office in Oxford, MS, which he used to make loops with friend and producer Jake Davis. While known as gifted guitarist, Tyler shows off many sides on Time Indefinite as you can hear on the three gorgeous, atmospheric, haunted songs from it shared today: “Cabin Six,” “Concern,” and “Star of Hope.” You can watch the videos, featuring footage from Tyler’s family archives, below.
Tyler will celebrate Time Indefinite with a series of hi-fi listening events in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Knoxville (Big Ears fest), and London that will feature a playback of the album and a Q&A. The Brooklyn event is at Public Records on March 5 and LA is at In Sheep’s Clothing HQ on March 12. All dates are listed below.
