Jonathan Majors has revealed he’s had a meeting about starring in a potential superhero project.
The comments come two years after the acclaimed “Lovecraft Country” and “Devotion” actor was fired from the Marvel Cinematic Universe following his reported conviction on third-degree assault and second-degree harassment.
The actor played He Who Remains in “Loki” and Kang the Conqueror in third “Ant-Man” film with the original plan being to have him serving as the ‘big bad’ of the next “Avengers” film.
Upon his firing, the next “Avengers” was retooled and will now introduce Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) as the main villain of those films.
Speaking with THR for a major profile piece, Majors discussed his future in the profession where he revealed he’s been offered a smaller sized superhero film project: “No relation to the big guys, DC or Marvel, but a pretty wicked story. I’m glad to be reading.”
He revealed he learned his time in the MCU was over just moments after he walked out of the criminal courthouse and his agent explained to him: “He goes, ‘I’m just gonna tell you now. That way you’re not surprised, and you can start processing it. They fired you. Marvel fired you.'”
Of the weeks that followed, he says: “There were days when it was like, ‘Is this real?. It’s a heartbreak like I’ve never experienced and it just compounded and compounded.”
Majors has been attending therapy and reconnected with his pastor and has spoken about his childhood traumas. His “Creed III” co-star/director Michael B. Jordan says he’d love to make a fourth “Creed” with Majors.
Majors’ next movie is the long delayed “Magazine Dreams” which is set to release in cinemas on March 21st.
