Wheel Of Time Showrunner Teases Dumai’s Wells And Matt’s Luck – Mild Book Spoilers

Wheel of Time showrunner Rafe Judkins teases Dumai’s Wells and Matt’s luck in the future of the show. In a recent interview with The Dusty Wheel post-Episode 4 of Season 3 (airing now) Judkins teased some future events. I’ll do my best to avoid spoilers here folks of any kind. However, this was an interview conducted with book fans in mind.

Episode 4 gave us Rhuidean, one of the big events of the books that always ranks as a fan favourite. However, if Wheel of Time gets renewed for future seasons then Judkins explains that they are already setting up another big moment, Dumai’s Wells. I won’t discuss what happens there in the books, and I won’t need to for book readers.

Here is what Judkins had to say about future big swings like Rhuidean.

“A couple big swings still coming this season, I would say in the future… One for me, like you know that I’ve been working towards, and you see pieces being set in place for this in Episode Four is, is Dumai’s Wells. You know, where we’ve been planting the pieces to pull that off for a long time, you know. And we’ve been planting the pieces to pull off Rhuidean In Episode Four for a long time.”

“Like you need, sort of all of these various things to be in place. So, you know, we knew we would want Lattra And we’d want her back for this. And, you know, like, everything’s kind of done with with a thought behind it. Sometimes that thought’s more about production and how we have to deal with it than, than necessarily what we most, you know, like, what our greatest hearts desire is. It’s a balance between those things. But like, yeah, we’re definitely setting pieces up to hopefully deliver on Dumai’s Wells.”

Could Dumai’s Well’s be in Season 4 is it gets greenlit? I guess we will have to wait and see if Season 4 does get the go ahead first.

As for Matt’s luck, I’ll be more careful here. However Judkins was asked specifically when that may factor in to the TV show for the first time. He talked about how for this season the focus with Matt is on his memories rather than some other aspects of him. However, he did say that fans should pay attention in Episode 6 of Season 3 for some of the first signs. I don’t want to say anymore than that here, but book readers will be able to fill in the gaps easily enough.
