Watch Cali hardcore band Ursula’s video for “Shan’t” off upcoming debut LP
Vocalist Whitney Marshall says the song is ”about the absurdity of going routinely through the movements of daily life when the background to that monotony is an endless nightmare.”

Apple Valley, California hardcore band Ursula formed back in the late 2010s, and three EPs and a few lineup changes later, they’re finally set to release their debut album I Don’t Like Anything on April 4 via Indecision Records (pre-order). Ahead of its release, we’re premiering the video for new single “Shan’t,” and it’s an intense one. It’s just a minute long, and that’s all Ursula need to dish out their fierce, tuneful venom. Here’s what vocalist Whitney Marshall says to say about the song’s all-too-widely-relatable message:
The original idea behind the lyrics was to try to convey that general feeling of powerlessness that most everyone may feel. Also something about the absurdity of going routinely through the movements of daily life when the background to that monotony is an endless nightmare… being aware whilst trapped and powerless to do anything that will significantly change anything. Therefore, some can turn a blind eye and continue to live with the ease through online shopping.
