This week "ghost marks" on London's Elizabeth Line were hidden by posters

This week on Dezeen, we reported on the silhouette-shaped posters applied to hide "ghost marks" behind platform benches on the Stirling Prize-winning Elizabeth Line in London.

Following a trial in 2024, Transport for London found that the colourful posters were the most effective way to hide and prevent ghostly-looking stains, which were caused by dirt and grime left by passengers leaning against the stations' walls.

Also this week, we continued our Art Deco Centenary series with a roundup of surprising art deco hotspots from around the world.

The series also included a profile on art deco graphic designer Cassandre, while critic Catherine Slessor wrote that "it's no surprise to see art deco being avidly embraced by the likes of Elon Musk" in an opinion.

We also revealed the first images of the demountable Mitsubishi Pavilion, which was created by Japanese firm Mitsubishi Jisho Design for the Expo 2025 Osaka.

The pavilion was constructed from reusable materials such as timber and steel, and contact between the building and the ground was minimised to lessen permanent damage to the site.

Also in architecture news, RIBA Gold Medal-winner Yasmeen Lari  turned down this year's Wolf Prize and its $100,000 prize money, which is awarded by Israel-based Wolf Foundation.

In a letter to the privately-owned foundation, which she shared on Instagram, Lari wrote: "In view of the unfortunate continuing genocide in Gaza, I am not able to accept the award and the prize money even from an organisation that is independent from the government."

In design news, Nendo and Arep unveiled the latest iteration of the high-speed TGV train in France, updating its appearance with a more aerodynamic nose and a red, white and blue colour scheme.

Also making headlines in transportation was an electric sports car with in-wheel motors, designed by French carmaker Renault.

A house built to the design of Frank Lloyd Wright completed in Ohio, despite official Frank Lloyd Wright organisations describing it as an "interpretation" of the architect's original design.

According to the home's owner and general contractor, it meets current building regulations, while remaining "true to Wright's plan, intent and spirit".

Projects that caught readers' attention this week include a home in Kent that puts a modern twist on Tudor architecture, a "hedonistic" spa in London and a green-tiled garden studio.
