PS5 Safe From Trump Tariffs But Price Increased Outside US

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced yet another PS5 price increase in select markets due to a “challenging economic environment.” Just last week, we reported that the console will be safe from Trump tariffs for now, but Sony continues to be hit with “high inflation” and “fluctuating exchange rates” in countries outside of the United States.
PS5 price increase might hit US eventually
The latest PS5 price hike will affect Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Australia, and New Zealand. There’s some respite in that the PS5 Pro‘s price remains unchanged and Sony has actually slashed the price of disc drives in these regions.
The new prices are as follows:
Europe
- PS5 Digital Edition – €499.99 (No pricing changes for the standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive)
- Disc drive – €79.99
UK
- PS5 Digital Edition – £429.99 (No pricing changes for the standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive)
- Disc drive – £69.99
Australia
- Standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – AUD $829.95
- PS5 Digital Edition – AUD $749.95
- Disc drive – AUD $124.95
New Zealand
- Standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – NZD $949.95
- PS5 Digital Edition – NZD $859.95
- Disc drive – NZD $139.95
Sony has asked folks in the EMEA region to check with their local retailers for price changes.
Although the U.S. has not received a price increase, analysts have warned that Trump tariffs will eventually cause prices to skyrocket in the country. Sony is presumed to have stockpiled inventory to circumvent the tariffs for now, but if nothing changes, expect a price increase in the coming years.
