Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino, or also known as KimPau, are one of the more famous acting duos on the small and big screen in the Philippines. In their third venture together, they reunited in the romantic comedy My Love Will Make You Disappear, which demonstrates the audience’s desire to see this on-screen couple.

Directed by Chad Vidanes from the original screenplay by Patrick Valencia and Isabella Policarpio, My Love Will Make You Disappear continues ABS-CBN Films’ legacy of bringing Filipino storytelling to a global audience. With its universal themes of love, resilience, and fate, the film embraces kilig – the uniquely Filipino feeling of romantic exhilaration—as a cultural export, inviting international audiences to experience the magic of Pinoy romance.

Sari (Kim Chiu) has spent her life believing she is cursed—every man she loves mysteriously disappears. To protect herself from heartbreak, she has sworn off romance—until she meets Jolo (Paulo Avelino), a brooding landlord weighed down by personal failures and the burden of inheriting a struggling apartment complex. As Jolo and Sari work together to save the community from being displaced, their bond deepens. But for Sari, love has always come at a price. Will she risk everything, even if it means Jolo might disappear too?

LRM Online’s Gig Patta chatted with the lead actors Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino about their working relationship, their chemistry, their comedy, and the most important question—is kissing the rain all it is cracked up to be?

Kim Chiu is one of the most well-known actresses in the Philippines. Her record box office draws from romantic comedies like Bride for Rent, dramas like Etiquette for Mistresses, and even horrors like The Ghost Bride. Her fame rose after she won the first teen edition of Pinoy Big Brother. Other credits included I’ve Fallen For You, One Great Love, My Binondo Girl, Love Thy Woman, and What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim in television.

Paulo Avelino starred in many hit television shows, including Walang Hanggan, Bridges of Love, and The General’s Daughter. On the film side, his best-known role is playing Gregorio del Pilar in the epic war film Heneral Luna and its sequel Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral. Other credits also include Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay, I’m Drunk, I Love You, and Fan Girl.

KimPau, or rather Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino, appeared together with two television hits with Linlang and What Happened to Secretary Kim.

My Love Will Make You Disappear is in theaters on Friday, March 28.
