More Netflix Marvel Characters Coming To MCU

Brad Winderbaum, the head of Marvel Television, has indicated more cast members of Netflix’s Marvel series “The Defenders” could follow Charlie Cox’s Daredevil into the MCU.

Out promoting the upcoming release of “Daredevil: Born Again” on the Disney+ service on March 4th, Winderbaum was asked by EW if any plans were in place to bring actors and characters like Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, Mike Colter’s Luke Cage, or Finn Jones’ Iron Fist to the MCU.

“The Defenders” was the culmination of four separate series featuring the characters that then teamed up for the event series which originally premiered in 2017.

Though he didn’t lock in anything, Winderbaum says he’s excited to be able to play in the world of the Marvel-Netflix series and they are “very much exploring” the possibility:

“I can’t say much, but I’ll tell you that it’s so exciting to be able to play in that sandbox. Obviously, we don’t have the unlimited storytelling resources like a comic book, [where] if you can draw it, you can do it.

We’re dealing with actors and time and the massive scale of production in order to build a cinematic universe, especially on television. But I can just say that all those variables taken into account, it is certainly something that is creatively extremely exciting and that we are very much exploring.”

Krysten Ritter previously indicated in December she was more than ready to step back into the Jessica Jones role saying “Come on, Brad! Let’s get it going. Let’s do it. I’ll be ready.”

The first two episodes of “Daredevil: Born Again” release on March 4th.
