Malaysia Airports celebrates Hari Raya with comic-inspired ‘Riang Riuh Raya’ campaign
Through this campaign, Malaysia Airports continues to enhance the passenger experience while celebrating local traditions and showcasing cultural vibrancy.

MALAYSIA. Malaysia Airports is celebrating Hari Raya (a traditional celebration which marks the end of Ramadan) with a nostalgic comic-inspired animation at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
The Riang Riuh Raya campaign – running until 30 April – transforms the airport into a vibrant, living comic strip, meticulously hand-drawn by Jepah Studio.
Inspired by the nostalgia of the 1980s and 90s, the animation captures the warmth, humour and timeless charm of Raya traditions, brought to life through exaggerated comic-book spaces, engaging characters and interactive storytelling elements.
Rooted in the Balik Kampung or ‘return to village’ tradition, the artistic Kampung scene features playful caricatures and immersive experiences that evoke a sense of nostalgia.
The artistic interpretation seamlessly blends tradition with creativity, allowing passengers to feel as though they have stepped into a whimsical, comic-style world.
A Pentas Rentak Riuh hub of festive entertainment features interactive workshops, traditional craft-making, spirited musical performances and cultural showcases. The lively and dynamic space offers travellers an immersive and festive Raya experience that celebrates Malaysia’s cultural diversity.
Travellers who spend RM200 (US$45) in a single receipt at participating outlets in KLIA terminals 1 and 2, Penang, Langkawi, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu international airports will receive a set of limited-edition Raya packets. The exclusive gifts with purchase reflect the festive spirit of Hari Raya and serve as locally inspired souvenirs for travellers.
Passengers who spend RM500 (US$112) in a single transaction at participating outlets in KLIA terminals 1 and 2 will receive a bespoke, hand-sewn zipper coin pouch, crafted by a local women’s organisation. Featuring intricate stitching and traditional fabric patterns, the pouch is not only a practical keepsake but also supports and empowers local artisans. Both promotions end on 18 April.
“We are excited to bring a fresh and visually captivating Raya celebration to our travellers this year,” commented Malaysia Airports Senior General Manager, Commercial Services Hani Ezra Hussin.
“By blending the nostalgia of Balik Kampung traditions with a bold, comic-inspired twist, we aim to create an experience that is both heartwarming and engaging. This campaign reflects our commitment to delivering joyful and memorable moments while celebrating in a way that feels both familiar and creatively unique.”
