Intriguing “Carrie” & “Narnia” Casting Rumors

Milly Shapiro, who had a memorable role as the younger sister in “Hereditary,” has reportedly scored the title role in filmmaker Mike Flanagan‘s upcoming TV series based on Stephen King’s “Carrie” reports DanielRPK.

In addition, the scooper says Flanagan regular Samantha Sloyan (“Midnight Mass,” “Hush”) is also in talks to star as Carrie’s mother Margaret. A writer’s room for the series is set to open soon with the title being produced by Amazon MGM Studios for its Prime Video service.

King’s first novel and published in 1974, the story follows a shy girl, tormented by an abusive mother and bullies at school, who develops telekinetic powers and takes revenge on her tormentors. The property was adapted into the famed 1976 Brian DePalma film which scored a widely panned 1999 sequel, and was followed by a mixed-reviewed remake of the original in 2013.

That’s not the only colorful casting report of late. Outlet Nexus Point News reports that three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep has been offered the role of the lion Aslan in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming “The Chronicles of Narnia” film at Netflix.

The report confirms Aslan will be female in the new film but no further information has been indicated. The report was posted earlier this week but there has been zero confirmation for any other outlets in regards to its veracity.

No casting for the project has been officially announced, though it has been reported that Charli XCX is in talks for the White Witch while Daniel Craig has received an offer to join the cast. The film is slated to go into production in July.
