Saigon Baigur celebrates the opening of its new distillery, offering a premium gin that captures Vietnam’s botanical diversity

VIETNAM. Today’s selection comes from Ho Chi Minh, where premium gin brand Saigon Baigur has opened a new distillery. The images were shared by Saigon Baigur Founder Jochem Lisser on LinkedIn.

The Vietnamese brand has carved a distinctive niche within the premium spirits category. Inspired by motorcycle journeys across Vietnam’s diverse terrains, Lisser spent two years refining a gin that captures the country’s vibrant landscapes, cultures and native botanicals.

The result is a craft gin featuring black cardamom from the northern jungles, rare Buddha’s Hand citrus from Hanoi, Saigon cinnamon from the Annamite mountain ranges and lotus flower from the Mekong Delta, combined with Macedonian juniper and nine additional local botanicals.

It is notably the only gin in the world to incorporate fresh macerated Buddha’s Hand and vapour-infused lotus flower and black cardamom.

Named after Baigur, the first recorded settlement in the Saigon region, the brand honours Vietnam’s thousand-year-old trading heritage in spices and botanicals.

Saigon Baigur takes its symbol from the dragon. The mythological creature represents power and prosperity and is believed to bring rain, which is essential to agriculture and the botanicals used in Saigon Baigur’s gin.

Its bold bottle design – created over the course of a year through a challenging bespoke glass-production process – echoes the scales of the mythical dragon, reinforcing the brand’s connection to Vietnamese traditions and beliefs.

With its new distillery, Saigon Baigur strengthens its presence in the growing premium spirits sector, offering consumers an authentic story anchored in Vietnamese botanicals. ✈
