Horror’s New Wave: 15 Years of Blumhouse will be published in hardcover and e-book on September 30 via Simon & Schuster’s Simon Element.
Written by Dave Schilling with an introduction from founder Jason Blum, the book serves as a visual compendium that takes you behind the scenes of the Blumhouse films that have reshaped the horror genre over the past 15 years.
The 305-page tome captures the company’s journey to become a horror powerhouse, taking you through the process of conception to premiere for films like Get Out, Split, Glass, The Purge, Five Nights at Freddy’s and more.
Filmmakers Jordan Peele, M. Night Shyamalan, Leigh Whannell, James Wan, and Mike Flanagan, actors Allison Williams, Ethan Hawke, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Octavia Spencer, and Blumhouse head of film Couper Samuelson and head of casting Terri Taylor are among the interview subjects.
The interviews explore the triumphs and challenges of how each project came together, offering insights into the creative process, including directing, musical score, makeup, acting, cinematography, and more.
This book also features film stills, never-before-published behind-the-scenes images, storyboards, creative briefs, and title treatments.
