G-Star Raw Appoints Botter Founders as New Creative Directors

G-Star Raw has tapped Botter co-founders Rushemy Botter and Lisi Herrebrugh as its first creative directors since 2018. According to a report by Business of Fashion, the life partners and creative duo known for their Carribean inspired luxury label, will draw inspiration from G-Star's 90s heyday for their debut line. The Amsterdam-based brand was founded in 1989 by Jos van Tilburg, offering edgy denim and streetwear, notably the famous Elwood pants released in 1996. It was also shared that the popular garment would be a central point of inspiration for their debut collection, set to be showcased at Paris Fashion Week next January. Having grown up not far outside of the Dutch capital, the founders shared their excitement saying “[G-Star was] always this pride of Holland. So being now part of that makes us very proud.” The new creative changes come two years after G-Star Raw was acquired by WHP Global, which also manages Bonobos and Rag & Bone. Establishing their label in 2017, the Botter duo quickly gained recognition, becoming LVMH prize finalists in 2018 and heading up Nina Ricci from 2018 until 2022. Since then, the two have continued to deliver their eclectic, "aquatic" aesthetic with runway shows staged in Paris and in collaborations with labels from Reebok, adidas, and more.Stay tuned to Hypebeast for the latest fashion news.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast
