Charlize Theron Reportedly Returning as Clea in AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY

Charlize Theron is reportedly coming back as Clea in Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday. While her introduction in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was brief in a post-credits scene where she pops in, slices reality open, and tells Strange he caused an Incursion. Fans immediately knew this wasn’t a one-and-done cameo. Marvel had bigger things in mind for the niece of Dormammu.Now, according to The Cosmic Circus, Clea will return for the next major Avengers event. The report also mentions that the crowded roster will also include America Chavez, She-Hulk, and, yes, the Scarlet Witch, who has been mentioned several times already.This tracks with what Multiverse of Madness screenwriter Michael Waldron said back in 2022 about Clea’s future in the MCU:“We were really excited to introduce Clea. Getting Charlize Theron to play that character, holy crap! In the comics, Clea is Doctor Strange’s great love so to speak. “The alternate Christine Palmer, as she says goodbye to our Doctor Strange, tells him to face his fears, to be willing to love someone else and to face that fear connecting with someone else.”He added: “It felt like the perfect time to finally introduce this very pivotal character in Doctor Strange's canon. Strange went to the Multiverse and tampered with it as much as you probably possibly could. I don’t think it’s any surprise per the rules that Reed [Richards] laid out that he caused an Incursion. “So now there’s an oncoming collision of universes. But what does that mean for the MCU? We’ll find out. But we've got a semi-corrupted Doctor Strange and Clea on the case! So it's going to be a lot of fun."That “oncoming collision of universes” is a huge part of where the MCU is heading with Avengers: Doomsday, and Clea, with her connection to the Dark Dimension and the mystical side of things, might be one of the few characters equipped to navigate the chaos.Filming on Avengers: Doomsday kicks off next month in the UK. Sets are being built, cast members are being spotted around London, and everything’s ramping up for what will be a massive ensemble story.Avengers: Doomsday opens May 1, 2026.
