Avolta captures dining and retail concessions at New York JFK Airport Terminal 5

USA. Avolta has secured two key contracts at New York JFK International Airport Terminal 5 through its subsidiaries Hudson and HMSHost, including a ten-year deal to upgrade the terminal’s dining experience. The awards for T5, which houses JetBlue flights, were made by concessions developer Fraport USA.

HMSHost will debut six new restaurants spanning over 725sq m, beginning in 2025. Hudson separately captured a seven-year contract to launch a Manhattan-inspired retail store and Terminal 5’s first immersive video gaming lounge.

As reported, The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Fraport USA and JetBlue recently revealed plans for a major upgrade of T5, including the addition of more than 40 new concessions plus amenities, including art installations and a redesigned centre concourse inspired by New York’s parks, to create a New York sense of place. The first concessions are expected to open throughout 2025, with the terminal improvements completed by the end of 2026.

Avolta President and CEO, North America Steve Johnson said: “Our vision for JFK Terminal 5 is bold. New York’s world-class culinary scene deserves to be reflected in its airport dining.

“We appreciate the confidence that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Fraport USA, and JetBlue have in us and our joint-venture partners and that they share in our excitement to transform the traveller experience. 2025 will be a landmark year for Hudson and HMSHost as we expand our retail and F&B operations in several terminals at JFK, one of the busiest airports in North America.”

The new dining venues will showcase New York’s diverse culinary scene, offering Italian and Mexican flavors alongside a locally-inspired restaurant and bar designed exclusively for T5 travellers. Featured dining concepts include:

  • Benateri’s – A NYC deli experience featuring signature Italian sandwiches.
  • Big Bourbon Bar NYC – A concept showcasing locally sourced Hudson Whiskey NY.
  • Eataly – Offering authentic Italian antipasti, pasta, pizza and wine.
  • Dos Toros Taqueria – Bringing Mexican flavours to Terminal 5.
  • Chopt– Known for fresh, high-quality salads and house-made dressings.

Avolta will also introduce retail concept Park Ave Emporium by Hudson, which is inspired by Manhattan’s Park Avenue. It offer self-checkout for fast transactions, along with local souvenirs, gifts and travel essentials.

The company will also introduce Gameway, the terminal’s first premium video gaming lounge. Gameway will feature high-end console and PC gaming stations, retro games, and refreshments.

This latest agreement further expands Avolta’s footprint at JFK, adding to its recent dining contracts in Terminal 4 plus retail and F&B concessions in T8. New locations are also planned for T6 next year, which will sit alongside existing outlets in Terminals 1, 4, 5, 7 and 8. ✈
