Iconic Xbox Franchise Finally Comes to PS5 This Year

After many rumors and speculation, it finally happened: The iconic Xbox franchise Gears of War is coming to PS5. Microsoft announced Gears of War: Reloaded, a remaster of the series’ first entry.

Gears of War: Reloaded coming to PS5 this summer

Microsoft announced Gears of War: Reloaded, a remaster of the original 2006 Xbox 360 title. It will feature 4K resolution and 120 frames per second support, as well as cross-play and cross-progression across all platforms. This is the first time Marcus Fenix and his crew fight the Locust on a PlayStation platform. The remaster releases for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PC on August 26 for $39.99.

“As we approach the 20th anniversary of Gears of War in 2026, we’re reflecting on what this franchise means,” says the announcement. “It’s about the stories we’ve told, the friendships we’ve built, and the unforgettable moments we’ve shared together. With Gears of War: Reloaded, we’re opening that door to more players than ever.”

“And wherever you play, we’re meeting you there with the best version possible,” continues the announcement. “Gears of War: Reloaded includes platform-specific features that make the most of the hardware you already own to deliver a world-class Gears of War experience — faithful to the original, optimized for today, and made for everyone.”

Gears of War PS5 rumors have recently found their way on the internet recently, so this announcement isn’t too surprising on the surface. However, many of the rumors named a “Gears of War Collection” that would include the first three mainline games. Unfortunately, this is not the case.
