Sharon Van Etten began her first ever tour with her new band The Attachment Theory with shows in Rhode Island, Woodstock, and her home state, NJ, back in February, and while she also performed at The Music of Patti Smith at Carnegie Hall in March, it wasn’t until Friday (5/2) that she made it to NYC, her former home, for a show at Brooklyn Steel. “So many feelings come rushing back walking down your streets,” she wrote on Instagram after the show. “So many years of searching for myself and now I see myself in you. Brooklyn is as much a part of my identity as is my home state of NJ. It always feels a bit like coming home and my heart aches when I leave.” Friday night’s show included a good mix of songs off her great new album with The Attachment Theory along with older favorites, including “Every Time the Sun Comes Up,” “Tarifa,” “Seventeen,” “I Wish I Knew,” “Comeback Kid,” and more. See the setlist below, along with some attendee taken video. Love Spells opened the show, and you can see pictures from the whole night by The Tinfoil Biter below.
