Hotels.com became much less appealing a few years ago when they slashed its reward program from earning an effective 10% back on your stay to earning 2% back. However, it’s still the site of choice for many people, especially when booking independent properties and/or hotels where you don’t care about receiving elite status benefits, earning elite night credits, etc.

Getting a 10% discount on their gift cards could therefore be very appealing, especially considering these don’t go on sale very frequently anymore. There’s also a useful high limit of five cards, meaning you can buy up to $1,000 worth of discounted Hotels.com gift cards.

There are a couple of things to bear in mind before buying these. One is that you can only redeem one Hotels.com gift card per reservation. What you can do though is merge balances here. You can merge up to five cards which is helpful given the deal limit, thereby ending up with one $1,000 gift card if maxing out the offer.

The other thing to bear in mind is that not all properties let you redeem gift cards towards stays. If you have a particular property in mind that you want to book, it’s therefore worth starting to go through the booking process to see if a gift card can indeed be applied.
