‘American Pie’ star Natasha Lyonne hasn’t watched any of the sequels

Natasha Lyonne has admitted that she has not seen the American Pie sequels, despite being in two of them, and wasn’t sure if Poker Face co-star John Cho was in them either.

The actor is best known to modern audiences for her work on television, being a regular in Orange Is The New Black as well as the time loop comedy Russian Doll. She is currently promoting the second season of her latest show, Poker Face, which co-stars Cho.

She appeared in 1999’s American Pie as sarcastic high schooler Jessica, followed by its 2001 sequel. Lyonne would not appear in the third film, 2003’s American Wedding, but would return for 2012’s American Reunion. Cho would appear in all four as one of the “MILF guys”, who gave the character of Stifler’s Mom (Jennifer Coolidge) the nickname MILF (Mom I’d Like To Fuck).

Speaking to Deadline, Lyonne discussed reuniting with Cho for the second season, but confessed to not remembering their previous work together. “I think that he’s maybe in some of the American Pies,” she said. “I’ll be honest, I haven’t seen those. I did see the first one at the premiere. I do love Chris and Paul Weitz. I do talk a lot of shit about that movie, it’s mostly just because I don’t understand high school or proms or suburbia”.

She revealed Cho would discuss the films when they have met in the past, and she would go along with it despite not remembering them. “I think that John’s in those movies. Because whenever I see John around town or something, we’re always like, ‘American Pie!’” she said.

“Then, when he got to set [on Poker Face], we were like, ‘American Pie!’ But I was sort of playing along, if I’m honest, because I was just like, we’ve been doing that bit for over a decade, and so I kind of had to commit to the bit. He is in the movies, right?”

When reminded of his connection with Stifler’s Mom, she exclaimed: “Jennifer Coolidge! Does she wanna be in Poker Face? Because she should be!”

Recently, Natasha Lyonne revealed she would be making her directorial debut, making a dystopian sci-fi film that incorporates “ethical” AI.
