Lord Huron announce new album ft. Kazu of Blonde Redhead & Kristen Stewart, share “Looking Back”
Lord Huron are also gearing up for a tour that includes a Madison Square Garden show with Waxahatchee.

Lord Huron have been rolling out singles this year–“Who Laughs Last” with Kristen Stewart and “Nothing I Need”–and now they announced their new album, The Cosmic Selector Vol. 1, along with the release of its third single, “Looking Back.” Due out July 18 via Mercury Records (pre-order), the album was self-produced by Lord Huron leader Ben Schneider, and in addition to Kristen Stewart it also features Blonde Redhead’s Kazu Makino (on the song “Fire Eternal”). The album title describes a Black Mirror-esque, jukebox-like machine that’s also pictured on the album cover. Ben asks, “What if you could choose your fate like choosing a song on a jukebox? What if your finger slipped and you got the B-side instead? What if you misunderstood the meaning of the dang song to begin with?”
Following the dark, propulsive, spoken word-driven “Who Laughs Last” and the gently-rollicking folk rock of “Nothing I Need,” new single “Looking Back” is a hauntingly atmospheric song with a delicate folky undercurrent that’s fueled by acoustic guitar, harp, and cello. Speaking about it, Ben says, “The weight of your past can distort your present and future, the way massive celestial objects warp the fabric of the universe. Like a bowling ball on a trampoline. This song wonders if it’s possible to let go, or if looking back is a fundamental law of existence.” Judging by the singles, it looks like we’re getting a lot of musical variety on this album and “Looking Back” is yet another great one. Check it out below.
Lord Huron also have several previously announced tour dates coming up, including their massive Madison Square Garden show on July 30 with Waxahatchee. All dates are listed below.
