PS Store Drops Free Demo for Brand-New Game

PS Store has released a free demo for a brand-new game that released just this past Tuesday. In development for over two decades (yes, 22 years), Captain Blood finally released on the PS5 and PS4 this week. Players can try out the action-adventure hack-and-slash title without spending a penny.

Free PS Store demo for Captain Blood not locked behind PS Plus

Surprisingly, the demo isn’t locked behind PS Plus Premium, and it’s available on both the PS5 and PS4. The demo isn’t streamable, so Premium subscribers will need to download it into their consoles.

As for what the demo entails, that’s anybody’s guess. Captain Blood’s PS Store listing doesn’t mention the length of the demo either, and whether progress will carry over to the full game or not.

That said, it’s a freebie for the curious souls, so we can’t complain much. You can read PlayStation LifeStyle’s Captain Blood review if you’re still on the fence.

“Captain Blood is a pirate-themed action game set on the Spanish Main in the 17th century, where you step into the boots of a fearsome pirate on a quest for gold and glory,” the official description reads. “Expect wild adventures with cannon firing, pistol shooting, swashbuckling sword fights, and plenty of pirate shenanigans.”
