Adrianne Lenker announces new live album, shares “happiness”

Big Thief‘s Adrianne Lenker has announced Live at Revolution Hall, a mammoth 43-track, 32-song live album, which will be out April 24 via 4AD. It was recorded “mostly” across three nights in June at the Portland venue on 2024 Bright Future tour.

“It captures the spirit of the era of bright future shows where I am also joined by Nik Hakim and Josefin Runsteen and even my little brother Noah Lenker. There are old and new songs, on stage and back stage performances, and lots of other special surprises,” Adrianne says. “I think this piece really gives the listener a chance to experience the feeling of being at one of these shows and I couldn’t be more excited that this exists now.”

For more on the live album, here’s engineer Andrew Sarlo: “It was impossible to do this album without the immense love and respect I have for my friend. Watching the power of the music disarm and permeate feels a bit like an ‘I told ya so’ but I am still amazed every time. From the sidelines I cheer. This live album is another generous offering from Adrianne. Performing a myriad of songs; some new, some rare, some favorites, and beyond in front of an audience and behind the scenes. Clocking in around 120 minutes featuring songs & vignettes recorded exclusively on reel to reel and cassette tape, there was an attempt to create a different spin on what a live album could be. Recorded over the span of 3-days while on the “Bright Future” tour, we put friendship at the focal point making this a loving memento from one friend to another. Consider closing your eyes, getting cozy, and listening as if you are watching a film! (active listening is rewarded by uncovering layers of details within the captures…) Happily listening.”

In other news, Big Thief have a few big shows this fall, including LA’s Hollywood Bowl on September 27 and NYC’s Forest Hills Stadium on October 25.
