The second season of Amazon Prime Video’s post-apocalyptic game-to-series adaptation “Fallout” began filming in November and is still ongoing with shooting expected to wrap sometime this Summer.
Last year’s first season drew critical acclaim and pulled in major record numbers for Amazon. A year on and it’s still being held up as one of the best game-to-screen adaptations made to date alongside HBO’s “The Last of Us”.
With the finale having teased a ‘New Vegas’ element to the second season, anticipation for the new episodes are high even as we’re still a good year away from a potential release.
Series regular Walton Goggins, who has been in the cultural zeitgeist of late with his work on HBO’s “The White Lotus,” has teased that the new season is set to go decidedly bigger in scale and scope. In the discussion with Complex, the actor who plays ‘The Ghoul’ in the series says:
“We’re deep into Season 2 of Fallout. Now that people understand what the world is, this story just takes it to a whole another level. I’ve been around a long time, and usually, a show that people are attracted to, with that license, the second season really starts cooking, right? That’s when some real magic can happen. And we’re deep into Season 2. It says a lot about a lot – it stays in the lanes of the tone that was set but then veers outside of them in the most interesting ways.”
It’s expected nearly a year or so of post-production will be required for the new season with a debut likely to be Summer or Fall 2026. Goggins himself scored an Emmy nomination for his work on the series – as did the showrunners for writing and the overall show for Best Drama Series, but lost to the overwhelming success of “Shōgun”.
