The Dublin band dropped the original version of their acclaimed fourth studio record last summer. It peaked at Number Two in the UK, and recently landed at Number Four in the top 10 best-selling vinyl albums of 2025 so far.
At the end of last year, NME named the LP the second-best album of 2024 behind Charli XCX‘s ‘BRAT’.
Today (April 16), Fontaines have shared ‘Romance (Deluxe Edition)’ on digital online platforms. The collection contains three additional tracks, including a dreamy new track titled ‘Before You I Just Forget’.
It also features the group’s standalone single ‘It’s Amazing To Be Young’, which was released in February. The deluxe version closes with a previously unreleased, stripped-back live version of ‘Starburster’ that incorporates David Lynch’s ‘In Heaven (Lady In The Radiator Song)’.
Speaking on the new music, the band’s Conor Culrey said: “‘Before You I Just Forget’ is a song that started with a vision of this really blown out sound, something that heaved and shifted with new details becoming apparent every time you would listen.
“Like never being able to step in the same river twice, the song morphs and changes, finishing with an incredible string part by Grian [Chatten, singer].”

‘Before You I Just Forget’ had previously appeared on the B-side to ‘It’s Amazing To Be Young’.
Fontaines D.C. took home the International Group Of The Year award at the BRITs 2025 last month. At this year’s Grammys, ‘Romance’ was nominated for Best Rock Album – but ultimately lost out to The Rolling Stones’ ‘Hackney Diamonds’.
Responding to the defeat recently, guitarist Carlos O’Connell conceded: “They’re a great band though. It’s a bit mad, but at the same time it is The Rolling Stones […] I think we need to turn 40 to get the Grammy.”
Speaking to NME about ‘It’s Amazing To Be Young’ in February, Conor Deegan III explained: “I’m glad it got to see the light of day, because it’s a special song to us. More so for the way it was written than the song itself, in a weird way. It started life in the presence of Carlos’ newborn and it’s just a message for her, you know.”
He continued: “It was really heartwarming. Sometimes as people we can be a bit cynical. The world around us can make you that way if you’re paying attention to it. Sometimes optimism feels like a necessary delusion, but with the birth of a new child we were introduced to a really pure and deep beauty and hope that can’t be debated away by anyone jaded or even by ourselves.”
In other news, Fontaines D.C. have revealed the full line-up for their huge show at London’s Finsbury Park this summer.
The group are also scheduled to play outdoor headline concerts at Wythenshawe Park in Manchester, Cardiff Castle and Exhibition Park in Newcastle. They’ll play a run of European festival dates too, and appear at TRNSMT 2025 in Glasgow.
In a glowing five-star review of ‘Romance’, NME wrote: “‘Romance’ offers moments of wonder and gravity while also feeling occasionally foreboding. Much of its power, therefore, comes from the way the discomfiting mood is offset by the lusciousness of the melodies.”
