London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall has confirmed a pair of special concerts featuring the music of Metal Gear will take place later this year.
The two ‘Metal Gear In Concert’ gigs will take place on November 1 and feature the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra playing music from across the long-running franchise alongside footage from the hit video game series.
The shows will be conducted by Nicholas Buc while original Metal Gear singers Donna Burke and Stefanie Joosten will also perform live.
According to a press release, fans can expect “the most beloved music and songs from the franchise” to be performed during ‘Metal Gear In Concert’, with fan-favourite tracks ‘Encounter’, ‘Father And Son’, ‘Quiet’s Theme’, ‘Snake Eater’ and ‘Heavens Divide’ already confirmed to be part of the setlist.
“We’re always thrilled to celebrate the art of video game music and in this case, the incredible orchestral score that accompanies the hit franchise, Metal Gear,” said Matthew Todd, director of programming at the Royal Albert Hall, in a statement. “The most memorable moments in video games are renowned for putting music centre-stage and Metal Gear is no exception, with some of the most cinematic music of any gaming title. We’re incredibly excited to bring a new experience to the Royal Albert Hall stage in this way.”
‘Metal Gear In Concert’ will take place:
NOVEMBER

The first ‘Metal Gear In Concert’ show took place in Osaka in 2017 and has also been performed in Paris, Tokyo, New York and Los Angeles.
Last year, the Metal Gear soundtrack was given a special vinyl release as part of a partnership between Laced Records and Konami. ‘Metal Gear Solid: The Vinyl Collection’ is a 53-track, 6LP collection that features choice cuts from across the Metal Gear series, from the 1998 original to 2015’s Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
Earlier this year, it was confirmed the long-awaited remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is finally set to launch on August 28.
“Our most important mission was not to let the fans down,” said game producer Noriaki Okamura in a dedicated blog. “We found ways to refresh almost every facet of the game, as well as fully realising elements that were held back by technical limitations at the time of the original. We knew that not only would this remake need to satisfy Metal Gear Solid fans, it would also have to stand strong enough on its own merits for new players to enjoy.”
In other news, Xbox chief Phil Spencer is seemingly not interested in a big screen adaptation of Call Of Duty, despite the success of A Minecraft Movie.
