Wheel Of Time Season 4 Rumored Status Update | Barside Buzz

Today’s Barside Buzz in the fantasy genre is a rumored Wheel of Time Season 4 update from a reliable insider. Jon from Wot Up! has been keeping the community up to date with anything he is hearing regarding Season 4 news. The last we heard from this source he said he had heard it was less a viewership issue and more of a studio issue between Amazon and Sony.

You can watch the video for yourself below. However, here are the main take aways. 

Firstly, Jon says The Wheel of Time has not been cancelled behind the scenes. In fact, he claims that there is a deal on the table between Sony and Amazon for future seasons. Though, he also warns that that deal might not please some of the hardcore fan base. They continue to work on something better and they are close to some kind of deal. If a deal does happen, he expects an announcement before Fall.

Lastly though, he warns that if come Fall there is no announcement, then the show will be allowed to softly cancel. By that he means, no one will state it’s cancelled, but contracts will be run down and everyone will move on making a new season less practical to achieve.

If I were to guess a little between the lines here… I’ll guess that the deal in question is not for the full 8 Seasons. Perhaps, only something like another 3 Seasons to finish the story? This would be extremely disappointing. Especially when so much of the story is having to be cut to fit within the original 8 season plan as it is. Not to mentions the show is improving as it goes along. WoT is al doing better per dollar spent than Amazon’s seemingly uncancellable flagship show Rings of Power.

Look, it’s this simple. Studios don’t care about the art itself unless it’s winning them awards. That’s why they make awful decisions, consistently often. So who knows what awful decisions Amazon and Sony, two rank amateur studios, with poor track records, will make?

At this point I kinda half want them to officially cancel it so another streamer can come in and save the show. I can’t think who would, but Disney has fumbled their fantasy so far, maybe this would be good for them?
