Oasis’ manager speaks out on chances of new music from the band and if more tour dates will follow

Oasis’ manager has discussed the chances the band making new music and the possibility of more tour dates being announced.
Alec McKinlay shared the comments as part of a new interview with Music Week, and revealed what it’s been like working with Liam and Noel Gallagher following them announcing the long-awaited Oasis reunion last summer.
The Britpop legends have 41 dates booked for 2025, kicking off at stadiums around the UK this summer and then heading across multiple continents through the rest of the year. Support will come from Cast, Richard Ashcroft, Cage The Elephant and Ball Park Music.
The gigs will mark their first since 2009, and launch on July 4 with an opening night in Cardiff. News of the reformation led to the biggest concert launch ever seen in the UK and Ireland, and had 10million fans from 158 countries queuing to get tickets last year.
Explaining how the team kept the news of a comeback under wraps last year, McKinlay told the outlet: “The group of people who knew about it in advance was very limited. We were working with people we trusted.”
He continued: “We’d obviously been planning it for a while and the moment when it went live was a little bit of a step into the unknown in terms of how big the reaction would be. When it all hit home, it was just phenomenal. The reaction was very much one of, ‘Finally, some good news after all the nonsense that’s been going on in the world.’”
The manager – who is also the Ignition and Big Brother Recordings director – then shed light on whether fans can expect to see the band working on more material, and put a dampener on the hopes of more tour dates later down the line.
“This is very much the last time around, as Noel’s made clear in the press,” he said. “It’s a chance for fans who haven’t seen the band to see them, or at least for some of them to.”
He added: “No, there’s no plan for any new music.”
Rumours about new material from Oasis emerged last year, when Liam Gallagher took to X/Twitter to tell fans that a new album from the Manchester icons was “already finished”. He then took to social media again to fan the flames, claiming that he had listened to the material Noel had written for the record and was “blown away” by it.
However, he very soon went back on his comments and said on X that there was “no Oasis album in the making”. When a fan account messaged him and questioned why he made the previous statements, he said he “was fucking joking” and did it for “a laugh”.
While the singer is known for being light-hearted and flippant on X, he does have a history of leaking clues to news before it becomes public knowledge. In early 2024, for example, he teased the band’s reunion and their UK and Ireland 2025 tour dates well before both were officially confirmed, but followers largely dismissed it at the time.
Although both Liam and Alec McKinlay have shared that there is nothing in the works in terms of new Oasis music, Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones recently revealed to NME that Noel Gallagher has been in the studio with new material.
Speaking about the release of Stereophonic’s new album ‘Make ‘em Laugh, Make ‘em Cry, Make ‘em Wait’, Jones said that the singer, songwriter, guitarist and High Flying Birds frontman recently told him that he had “been doing some writing in the studio”.
“I’m assuming he’s doing some writing for either his stuff or if they’re [Oasis] gonna bring out a couple songs, I don’t know,” Jones said.
While it is still up in the air whether or not Oasis are considering writing new material, details about their upcoming stadium shows have been taking shape in recent months. Earlier this year, sources close to the band revealed to NME that the band’s line-up on the tour will include Noel, Liam, bassist Andy Bell, guitarists Gem Archer and Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs and drummer Joey Waronker.
Original drummer Tony McCarroll will not be involved in the comeback tour, and recently shared a statement that read: “The circle has started again, lads. A new generation ready to start a journey of listening. Actually, I’m a bit jealous of that blank canvas they’re about to start on.”
As for other Oasis news, the band recently re-released their classic single ’Some Might Say’ to mark its 30th anniversary. It marked their first UK Number One single in 1995 and came alongside the classic B-sides ‘Talk Tonight’, ‘Acquiesce’ and ‘Headshrinker’.
Yesterday (May 12), it was shared that the band’s entire back catalogue has been made available in Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos on Apple Music.
