‘The White Lotus’ star Walton Goggins shuts down question about Aimee Lou Wood after rumours swirl on social media about potential feud

The White Lotus star Walton Goggins recently shut down questions about co-star Aimee Lou Wood following rumours the two had fallen out.

The two played an unlikely couple in Chelsea and Rick in the third season of the Mike White-directed HBO series, and, following its tragic finale, internet sleuths deduced there was tension between them.

After the last episode aired, many took note that while Goggins did thank his co-star in a lengthy post about Rick and Chelsea’s fate, Wood wasn’t tagged in the post, which the rest of the cast was.

This was amplified after Goggins praised a controversial Saturday Night Live sketch that saw Sarah Sherman play a version of Wood’s Chelsea by sporting exaggerated false teeth, prompting Wood to describe the sketch as “mean and unfunny”.

As reported by Today earlier this month, Goggins initially commented on SNL’s post of the sketch, writing: “Hahahahahhahaha amazzzingggg”.

Page Six also noted he shared it to his Instagram story at the time, describing it as “smashing”. Both Walton’s comment and story were deleted after a few hours, with some speculating that it was removed after Wood’s feelings were known.

Now, in a recent interview with The Times, The Uninvited actor was repeatedly asked about his current relationship with Wood, which did not appear to be well-received. “I’m not gonna have that conversation,” Goggins said, with a publicist then urging the writer to move on to the “next question”.

When the topic was raised a second time, things grew more tense, with Goggins reiterating: “There is no conversation to be had about that. Sharing politics on social media – it’s in a vacuum.”

When a final attempt was made, Goggins remarked: “What the fuck! Come on, buddy. Wow.”

As it stands, Goggins is set to host SNL next Saturday (May 10), which has given way to rumours that the Sex Education star would appear alongside him to put any speculation to bed.

Wood had already confirmed that she had received a rare apology from the show and shared with fans that Sherman personally sent her a bouquet of flowers. Comedian Bowen Yang recently touched on Wood’s reaction to the sketch, saying it was “completely valid”.
