13 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

FOR YOUR HEALTH – “FLOWERS FOR THE WORST OF THEM”

We just named For Your Health’s lead This Bitter Garden single “Davenport (A Rotten Pear)” one of the best punk songs of April and noted how it fully embraced the band’s sassy, metallic screamo roots after going in a poppier direction on their 2022 split with awakebutstillinbed, and second single “Flowers For The Worst Of Them” is somewhere in the middle: unabashedly catchy but still with a heavy, discordant edge. It’s great stuff.

POP FREE – “MIRROR”

West Coast band Pop Free have signed to New Morality Zine, and they’ll release their new EP Spring on May 16. Here’s lead single “Mirror,” which strikes an appealing balance between energetic emo/post-hardcore and power-poppy alt-rock.

WESTSIDE GUNN & DOECHII – “EGYPT” (REMIX)

Doechii has been everywhere lately, and now she’s latching on to the underground boom bap revival by hopping on a new version of Westside Gunn’s recently-released “EGYPT,” which already began with a clip of Doechii praising WSG in a radio interview. It should come as no surprise at all that Doechii snaps on this.

ROC MARCIANO – “PERIOD BLOOD”

Speaking of the underground boom bap revival, Roc Marciano just put his game-changing 2010 album Marcberg on streaming services for the first time ever, and it comes with a new bonus tracks, “Period Blood.”

MARIAH THE SCIENTIST – “BURNING BLUE”

R&B singer Mariah the Scientist is gearing up for a new album (and she’s playing Governors Ball), and while you await details on the LP, here’s new single “Burning Blue.”

ULRIKA SPACEK – “INTERESTING CORNERS”

UK band Ulrika Spacek are back with their first new music since 2023’s great Compact Trauma. They say: “We’re happy to say we’ve been making a lot of music in the past year but this felt like a song that stood on its own, so we’ve decided to let it free. It’s a pretty sentimental song for us as we started working on it during our last US tour, listening to it and discussing it in the van whilst travelling through the American landscape, it became a soundtrack in and of itself.”

ATTENTION BIRD UTOPIA – “CARY”

Attention Bird Utopia, the project of Harriston Whitford and Eli Hirsch, release their debut album as a duo, Best of Kings, next month, and they’ve given us a final preview with “Cary,” a wistful folk track.

R.E.M. – “RADIO FREE EUROPE” (JACKNIFE LEE REMIX)

R.E.M. have announced a new Radio Free Europe EP which is out digitally now and will be out on vinyl on September 12. It’s in celebration of the 75th anniversary of radio stations Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty, and proceeds from the vinyl sales benefit the stations which have had their funding halted by the Trump administration. This Jacknife Lee remix is new

THE CURE – “WARSONG” (CHINO MORENO MIX)

“I chose Warsong to remix as it’s one of those slow-building, brooding musical pieces that have always drawn me into The Cure’s music,” Deftones’ Chino Moreno says of his contribution to the upcoming Mixes of a Lost World.

RIP VAN WINKLE (BOB POLLARD) – “BY THE WATER”

Rip Van Winkle is the latest side project of Guided by Voices’ Bob Pollard and they’ve announced their debut album, Blasphemy, and this is the first single.
