Cardless is an oddly-named FinTech company that’s been issuing credit cards for a few years now. It originally began by doing co-branded cards with ever Tom, Dick and Harry professional sports team around the world. After finding out that this wasn’t a terribly profitable business model, it decided to start going after the travel rewards leftovers from the big issuers, and now is the home for co-branded cards with Avianca LifeMiles, Qatar Privilege Club, TAP Air Portugal, and LATAM, among others.
Once it started dipping its toes(less?) into travel rewards cards, it instituted one of the most draconian anti-churning rules that we’ve ever come across: each consumer was limited to get one Cardless card…..for life.
Since Cardless originally published those terms, we’ve theorized that it couldn’t be forever. Feathers were going to be ruffled if you told Qatar that there were people who couldn’t get one of their cards because they’d already had an Avianca card (or vice versa).
It appears that time has come, as Travel on Points has noticed that Cardless is now open for multi-card business.
Quick Thoughts
There are some additional rules that Cardless customer service told Travel on Points about, which we’ve added to our complete guide to credit card application rules by bank:
- The application must be 60 days after your most recent Cardeless card approval.
- The application must be 45 days after a recent Cardless card decline.
- You can only have one Cardless card per brand.
- You cannot already have the same card.
It’s unclear exactly how many Cardless cards you can have at one time, but it’s no longer one. We’ll be digging into this more over the next couple of weeks, but it’s great to hear that the once-in-a-lifetime rule is dead, both for our sakes and for the ongoing viability of Cardless.

It could be worth getting the card for the Silver Elite benefits if you would have considered buying a LifeMiles+ subscription anyway.
