Fabulous Fridays: Alternate Club IC At InterContinental Athens

There have been several cases when the Club lounge has been temporarily closed, or for some reason, an InterContinental has denied access in the case you have an Annual Lounge pass (read more here).

I just spent two nights at the InterContinental Athens, Greece, which is currently undergoing renovations. Their Club InterContinental is currently closed (it will reopen in a few days).

InterContinental Athens’ Club InterContinental is currently closed, but maybe will be open next week.

However, they have temporarily repurposed one of the two lobby bars as a Club for all-day coffee and soft drinks, afternoon tea, and evening happy hour. Breakfast, however, is served at their usual restaurant.

Conclusion

I made the booking literally ten minutes before arrival, as I was walking out from a nearby hotel.

The Club InterContinental at this hotel is quite nice and a perfect place for me to type during the daytime, but unfortunately, it was closed.

You have to give the hotel credit for having an alternate venue to serve as its Club IC. That really is how all hotels should handle their temporary club closures.

Even though the space was not quite the same, this demonstrated that the hotel does care.
